Airtel Theatricals 2010 back to kindle creativity

    Hunt for the best theatrical college team in Tamil Nadu
    The biggest festival and competition of theatre entrepreneurship.
    Auditions commence  August 2010

Chennai, 22 July, 2010: Asias leading integrated telecom service provider Bharti Airtel Ltd and evam team up again to repeat the splendidly successful ‘Airtel Theatricals. The second Airtel Theatricals is designed to be a grand festival and competition of theatre and entrepreneurship together involving more than 100 colleges across Tamil Nadu.

The theme of this years extravaganza is stories relevant to the Indian youth inspired from the greatest Indian epic ‘Mahabharata’. So get ready for the mega contest filled with action drama music dance and entertainment.

Airtel Theatricals team will conduct auditions in each of the registered 100 colleges to select 30 students. Selected students from each college will be given an introductory workshop by an eminent theatre personality. The workshop would cover different aspects of theatre like acting, script writing, dialogue delivery, costume designing, set designing, and entrepreneurship like campaign strategy, sponsorships generation, budgeting, and team management and so on. These colleges will then be mentored by evam not only to stage the given theme at the finals but also to run their own marketing campaign to bring in audience.

Speaking on this Mr. Rajiv Rajgopal CEO Mobile Services Airtel Kerala and TamilNadu said, We at Airtel have been pleased with the response this contest garnered last year. We are glad to associate ourselves with the event to introduce the present generation to our ancient theatre culture and new age entrepreneurship skills collectively. We wanted to take the second edition of Airtel Theatricals on a higher platform for students to display their creativity and in turn bring out the true essence of our culture from all parts of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on this Mr. Karthik Kumar, CEO, evam entertainment Pvt. Ltd said, "Through this event, evam aims to introduce students to theatre and entrepreneurship collectively where they will not only script and present a 30 min. play all by themselves but also run the whole event like a business by handling marketing and pricing and sales of tickets for their show, etc. Airtel Theatricals powered by evam aims to creating a platform for theatre, which is accessible and open to the youth, giving them an opportunity to create and present something significant through team-work, and more importantly a learning experience that is priceless!"

Colleges from across Tamil Nadu will be grouped into three centres Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore. Each of these centres will host a grand Airtel Theatricals Finals event and the top 10 teams across these centres will be selected to go into an online voting round. Video recordings of their performances will be posted on an online forum for public voting for one week. The team which secures maximum votes and points will be the champs of Airtel Theatricals 2010. All of this will culminate into a red carpet award ceremony in Chennai.
